at the end of Marine Drive at the foot of Malabar hill, there
are numerous foods stalls selling bhelpuri (a Mumbai specially),
Kulfi & Paan (be cautious). Nearest station is Marine

Juhu Beach
Mumbai's most popular is a favourite hount of the City Movers

Day Trips
Elephanta Caves
The beautiful sculptured rach-cut temple and Elephanta Island
are 9 Km. North east of Appolo Bunder. Closed on Mon. Ordinary
boats cost Rs. 60/-return and luxury launches, which are met
at elephanta by a free tour guide cost Rs.80/-. Both type
of launches leave every half hour front around *0900-1430
The last boat leaves daily from Apollo Bunder at * 1030 and
returns at * 1400 and the fare is Rs. 90/-. For enquires 2875473.
Bassein Fort
The remains of the Portuguese fortified city of Bassein are
on the northen side of river which separates greater Mumbai
form the Indian mainland. After securing the area in 1534,
the Portuguese built a city of such omaand, splendour with
a cathedral, five convents and 13 churches, that it came to
known as the court of the north, nearest railway station is
vasai road and thereafter 11 Km by rickshaw.

Flora Fountain
Hutatma Chowk also know as hutatma chowk, it is a statue of
Raman Goddess of spring erected in 1869 in member ue of the
Roman Goddess of spring erected in 1869 in memory of british
governor Sir Bartle Frere. Nearest station is Churchgate (WR)
GPO (General Post Office)
St. Georges Road 2620956 * 0900-1800( Mon -Sat) The GPO Building,
completed in 1911, was designed by John Begg in Indo-Saraacenic
style. The main post office of Mumbai is also the center of
"Poste Restante" where foreign tourists (please
bring passport) can collect their mail. It is situated near

Banganga
Walkeshwar Road Banganga is a beautiful stepped tank surrounded

JJ School of Art and Articulture
DN Road The JJ School of Art was founded in 1857 by Jamshedjee
Jeejeebhoy, a wealthy philanthropic Parsi gentleman. The decorative
feauture on many of Mumbai's public buildings were carried
out under his direction. His son, Rudyard Kipling, was born
here in 1865. Nearest Station is CST(VT) (CR).
Mani Bhavan
Laburnaum Road, Near Gowalia Tank, Gamdevi 3805864 * 1000-1730

Madame Cama Road This modern style building houses the offices

Town Hall
Shahid Bhagat Singh Road (AD.) to Reserve Bank 2660956 * 1030-1730

neo-classical architetecture. The library contains many ancient
books and manuscripts along with bronze and marble sculptures

Shahid Bhagat Singh Road constructed in 1829 and extending
upto Ballard Estate, It is here that India's currency is coined

Rajabai Clock Tower
Opp. Oval Maidan*1100 to 1700 one of Mumbai"s outstanding
landmark, the Rajabai clock Tower is situated in the gardens
of Mumbai Unversity. It houses the University Library. Nearest

Gateway of India
Apollo Bunder 2023585/6364*0800-2000 designed to commemorate
George V and Queen Mary's visit to India in 1911 it graces
the locally known Apollo Bunder Pier. From here one can take
launch cruises to the 6th Century Caves of Elephanta. Rates
for ½ hour harbour cruise Rs. 30/- (Delux Launch ).

Victorius Terminus
DN Road VT is now known as chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST)
and is Mumbai's Architecural masterpiece. This solid Gothic
structure was designed in 1878 by FW stevens and cost 1.6
Millions rupees to build. It is the headquarters of Central
Railway System consisting of 14 Platforms. It offer passenger
amenties and also operates local trains.

Mahalaxmi Race Course
Lala Lajpatrai Road (Haji Ali) situated at Mahalaxmi, Opp.
The Haji Ali Dargha, this world class race course was built
under enthusiastic direction of Major JE Hughes. There are
two enclosures, one for members and the other for the genral
public. The Indian Derby is always in February. Mumbai's horse
racing season runs from November to April. Nearest Station

Dhobi Ghat
Dr. E Moses Road (Mahalaxmi). A visit to Mumbai is not complete
without witnessing the early morning activity at the Dhobi
Ghat, where Mumbai's dirties are scrubbed, bashed, dyed and

Marine Drive
Netaji Subhashchandra Road. This is Mumabi's pride. It is
a popular promednade and is Mumbai's favourite spot for watching
the sun settling over the Arabian Sea. It is fondly called
the "Queen nechlace" because of the dramtic curve
of its streelights at night. Horse drawn Victoria rides are

Sanjay Gandhi National Park
Closed on Mon. Also known as Borivali National Park, the 104
Sq. Kms of virgin forest are located about 35 Kms. North of

it is home to the city's only zoo. The Dr. Bhau Daji Lad museum,

Sevagram
800 Kms. Situated 80 Kms. From Nagpur, in the heart of India,
is sevagram (village of service) where Mahatama Gandhi establish
his ashram in 1933. The ashram stands in 100 acres of form
land and the original huts have been preserved. Some of the
Mahatma's personal effects, including his famous spinning
wheel and spectacles are displaced. The Ashram's devotees
conduct excellent tours.
Mahabaleshwar
Located at a height of 1352 mtrs it is Maharahstra's most
